Pokemon GO eleva valor de mercado da Nintendo

As ações da Nintendo dispararam de novo nesta segunda-feira (11), o que conferiu um incremento ao valor de mercado da companhia de US$ 7,5 bilhões em apenas dois dias, com investidores comemorando o sucesso do título Pokemon GO, o primeiro título da empresa no mercado de jogos para dispositivos móveis.

O game combina a franquia de 20 anos com realidade aumentada, permitindo aos jogadores andarem pela vizinhança enquanto buscam personagens Pokemon na tela de seus celulares.

Nos Estados Unidos, até 8 de julho, dois dias depois do lançamento, o game já estava instalado em mais de 5 por cento da base de dispositivos Android do país, segundo a empresa de análise de dados SimilarWeb.

O jogo está agora instalado em mais celulares Android que o aplicativo de paquera Tinder e a taxa de usuários ativos diários estava empatada com a da rede social Twitter, segundo a SimilarWeb. O game está sendo jogado uma média de 43 minutos por dia, ou mais tempo que o gasto nos aplicativos WhatsApp ou Instagram, do Facebook.

As ações da Nintendo acumularam valorização de 36% desde o encerramento de quinta-feira. Nesta segunda-feira, o papel encerrou com alta de 24,5%.

Pokemon Go foi lançado nos Estados Unidos, Austrália e Nova Zelândia. Lançamentos em outros países, incluindo o Japão, um dos maiores mercados para videogames, devem ocorrer em breve.
O game, porém, não será uma fonte de lucro imediado para a Nintendo. O título é gratuito e a Nintendo não é a única investidora ou criadora do game.

Pokemon Go foi criado pela Niantic, uma cisão do Google no ano passado, e pela Pokemon Company. A Nintendo detém um terço da Pokemon Company e tem participações não reveladas na Niantic, que já desenvolveu um jogo similar de realidade aumentada em 2012.

D-valor

Resumo:

There is growing frustration with the concept of the p-value. Besides having an ambiguous interpretation, the p-value can be made as small as desired by increasing the sample size, n. The p-value is outdated and does not make sense with big data: Everything becomes statistically significant. The root of the problem with the p-value is in the mean comparison. We argue that statistical uncertainty should be measured on the individual, not the group, level. Consequently, standard deviation (SD), not standard error (SE), error bars should be used to graphically present the data on two groups. We introduce a new measure based on the discrimination of individuals/objects from two groups, and call it the D-value. The D-value can be viewed as the n-of-1 p-value because it is computed in the same way as p while letting n equal 1. We show how the D-value is related to discrimination probability and the area above the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. The D-value has a clear interpretation as the proportion of patients who get worse after the treatment, and as such facilitates to weigh up the likelihood of events under different scenarios.

Significância Estatística x Significância Econômica.

O artigo abaixo mostra a confusão que os pesquisadores de economia fazem entre significância estatística e significância econômica. 

Resumo:

Significance testing as used has no theoretical justification. Our article in the Journal of Economic Literature (1996) showed that of the 182 full-length papers published in the 1980s in the American Economic and Review 70% did not distinguish economic from statistical significance. Since 1996 many colleagues have told us that practice has improved. We interpret their response as an empirical claim, a judgment about a fact. Our colleagues, unhappily, are mistaken: significance testing is getting worse. We find here that in the next decade, the 1990s, of the 137 papers using a test of statistical significance in the AER fully 82% mistook a merely statistically significant finding for an economically significant finding. A super majority (81%) believed that looking at the sign of a coefficient sufficed for science, ignoring size. The mistake is causing economic damage: losses of jobs and justice, and indeed of human lives (especially in, to mention another field enchanted with statistical significance as against substantive significance, medical science). The confusion between fit and importance is causing false hypotheses to be accepted and true hypotheses to be rejected. We propose a publication standard for the future: “Tell me the oomph of your coefficient; and do not confuse it with merely statistical significance.”

Notícia boa para contabilidade? É uma tentativa de resposta as críticas que se faz ao relatório do auditor independente. Será que é suficiente? Talvez a discussão sobre a origem do pagamento do trabalho e outros assuntos tenham maior repercussão.

Desdobramentos - A adoção talvez não mude a qualidade do trabalho do auditor, mas a postura de procurar melhorar a qualidade do parecer é bastante interessante.

Mas a semana só teve isto? A condenação por problemas fiscais do jogador Messi (e futuramente de Neymar) e o parecer dos peritos do senado federal sobre as pedaladas também foram destaques na semana.
