1. NUVEM
At this point, the term is ubiquitous, though rarely entirely understood. But what it provides to businesses and workers is helping to shape how we collaborate, secure and access our information. With a recent study conducted by Gartner, Inc. finding that spending on cloud was poised to nearly double – from $110 billion in 2012 to $210 billion by 2016 – the cloud will be an ever-increasing focus in this new information economy. Solutions ranging from IaaS (infrastructure as a service), SaaS (software as a service) and BPaaS (business process as a service), are allowing businesses to focus primarily on their products and services, leaving the technical solutions to those best able to provide reliable networks and IT infrastructure.
2. BIG DATA*
What do you get when you combine significant advancements in technology, complex new data types, data growth and a renewed focus on analytics and results? You get big data, and it’s a big part of the new information economy. In fact, big data was estimated to drive – either directly or indirectly – more than $110 billion in IT spending in 2012. And if your business doesn't have an efficient means of turning a high volume of data into usable information, more and more of your time and energy will be spent dealing with processes, rather than your actual business.
3. MÍDIAS SOCIAIS
No one trend has changed the world more in the past decade than social media. The advent of Facebook, Twitter, Sina Weibo (a Chinese micro-blogging site similar to Twitter) and others have created a planet that’s more interconnected than ever. And while you may not have heard of Sina Weibo, 500 million people – more than 100 million more than the entire population of the United States – use the site. Indeed, more than 90 percent of Chinese people today use social media, compared to just short of 70 percent of Americans. That’s the sign of a trend that’s more than just a flash in the pan. It means social media is an ongoing growth area, not only domestically, but abroad. Adopting a strong social strategy is no longer just a nicety. It’s a necessity that will open new avenues to potential customers. Both the real-time information and the aggregate data gathered will prove invaluable to informing your ongoing strategic planning – from overall business strategy to tactical product tweaks. Getting this instant – and for the most part free – feedback from your customers is an information source you can’t afford to ignore.
4. MOBILIDADE
Do you have a smartphone? Guess what – so do your workers. And your customers. And probably their grandparents, too. Today’s public is always on and always connected, and this is changing the face of work forever. By 2015, the percentage of mobile workers will surpass 1.3 billion people, trends supported with the advent of programs like Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). Workforce mobility is creating significant changes – and challenges – for work. Just ask your IT staff the difficulties involved with data security, information management and mobile. And pull up a chair – you may be there a while.

*Big data se trata de um conceito, no qual o foco é o grande armazenamento de dados e maior velocidade. Podemos dizer que o big data se baseia em 5V’s velocidade, volume, variedade, veracidade e valor
